Job Title: Production Manager (SW Ontario)
Location: South Western Ontario
Salary: Commensurate with experience, qualifications

One of our clients an internationally known brand name food manufacturer of high volume, fast moving products is currently seeking a Production Manager for a facility in S.W. Ontario.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for producing quality products consistent with Company schedules, policies and regulatory compliance.
You will also be responsible for the direct supervision of Production Supervisors,
Maintenance, Warehousing and Production Planning.

Responsibilities: Efficiency, Yields, Safety, and Absenteeism

  • Evaluate, modify, and design production policies and procedures to ensure product quality and integrity, and ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations.


  • Control and effectively utilize the production capacity, manpower, equipment, and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling in order to minimize losses and optimize profitability.


  • Formulate and manage the control of all budgeted processes including labour, supply, equipment, and outside contractor costs.


  • Participate in and help develop business goals as required.


  • Ensure continuous improvement at all levels and in all processes within scope of responsibility.


  • Coordinate with Production Scheduling on efficient run strategies and adjust schedules between shifts as necessary to maintain full production.


  • Develop and empower supervisors to effectively address day to day operational needs.


  • Maintain a positive labour relations environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect and ensure a climate of open communication.



  • Work effectively with outside vendors, customers, and food regulation personnel.


  • Participate in the development, implementation, and attainment of the SQF certification process.

To qualify for this position you must have the following:

Post secondary education: BSc. Engineering (mech/chem) or related discipline;
3 – 5 years experience in an unionized food manufacturing environment;
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and build teams;

Demonstrated leadership skills;
Be self-directed and have high initiative;
Be results oriented and an agent for change;
Experience in mentoring and motivating employees across all levels;
Be able to thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment;
Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
